A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Solomon Assante, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders who sabotaged the Ghana Card cried like hungry babies over the extension of the sim card re-registration deadline.
He made this known when he joined Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show.
As at 20th July, 2022, the total number of people who had registered their sim cards were 16,059,350 which constituents 38% out of the 42,121,921 sim card users in the country.
Mr. Assante speaking on the above said, ‘’we can’t always blame government- we need to shift part of the blame to citizens especially the NDCs. Their General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia directed his members to boycott the Ghana card registration and not to involve themselves, so majority of them did not register. More than 25, 260, 061 people would have gone through stage one of the re-registration if not for the directive’’.
”Now they have realized the importance of the Ghana card and are now crying for extension- they are fighting fiercely after deceiving their members. Their intent is clear- they want to sabotage the NPP government. This is the kind of people we are dealing with. Since they cannot get extraordinary things done, they always want to destroy what government tries to do. If you take a close look, you will realize that those who will be going for the re-registration after the deadline are mostly from the camp of the NDC because most of them do not have their Ghana cards yet”, he added.
He emphasized on the self-service sim registration which will be launched on 2nd August, 2022 at a cost of 5cedis.
