Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has slammed Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia for the hypocritical role he has accepted to play on the 41st anniversary of 31st December Revolution after years of insulting Jerry John Rawlings.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) popularly known as Chairman Wontumi described Mr. Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito as a very “dangerous” man who had no respect for the late former President Rawlings but trying to use his name to get political support.
In an interview with Wontumionline.com, Chairman Wontumi revisited the bad blood between the late former Rawlings and General Mosquito where the latter is on record to call the former a “barking dog”.
According to Chairman Wontumi after calling the late President a “barking dog” it is unwise for General Mosquito to participate in an event created by a “barking dog”.
He added that the current leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were not in good terms with the family of their founder and for that reason, is baffled they have decided to be part of a revolution started by the late President Rawlings.
“Chairman Asiedu Nketia and Fifi Kwetey are hypocrites. When NDC was in power, they neglected him (Rawlings) and his wife. They are hypocrites and dangerous people to start with and I know that the spirit of Rawlings won’t be happy to see people like Asiedu Nketia being part of an event like 31st December revolution”, Chairman Wontumi said.
Rawlings’ warning to Asiedu Nketia
Before the late former President Rawlings passed away, he issued a stern warning to General Mosquito and some members of his party who were openly disrespecting him at any given forum.
Shortly after the NDC lost power in 2016, the late former President Rawlings stated at one of his 31st December Revolution event that : Most people are yet to recover from the traumatic shock of the December 7th election results. But I will have to state that if we turn our backs to our history as a party, we cannot escape the responsibility for the results.
I kept providing the warning whenever and wherever I could, and in public as well. But no, once again the uncouth and uncultured in our party and government chose to insult and disrespect some of us (Rawlings, 2016).
