Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku has called for unity and calm following the Black Stars squad announcement ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Black Stars coach Otto Addo named his 26-man squad on Monday, with Mubarak Wakaso and injured trio Jojo Wollacott, Richard Ofori and Iddrisu Baba missing out.
In-form Joseph Paintsil, Jeffrey Schlupp, Ransford-Yeboah konigsdorffer and Majeed Ashimeru were also not included.
“This is the Black Stars and only 26 players had the opportunity to be called. Let us support the team and the technical team. As I have said, only 26 players will have to be in Qatar and not 26 million players,” Okraku said.
“All the negativity around the Black Stars team, must stop. Let’s be positive. Let’s rally around the flag and let’s make our dear nation great and strong.”
Black Stars are set to camp in Abu Dhabi, where they will play their final pre-tournament friendly against Switzerland on Thursday, November 17.
Ghana face Portugal in their World Cup opener on November 24. They are joined in Group H by South Korea and Uruguay.
The four-time African champions have set a semi-final target.
