A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, Kofi Ntiamoah, has charged the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George AKuffo-Dampare to arrest lead convenors of the Arise Ghana Demonstration.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Mr. Ntiamoah said that “we will plead with the security agencies to take drastic action against the convenors of the demonstration; this is a criminal act that goes against our laws. It’s violence and cannot be described as a demonstration, we know Sammy Gyamfi, Listowel Poku, Bernard Monarh are included thus, the IGP must invite them by 12 PM today and arrest them all.
This comes a day after scores of individuals hit the street of Accra to protest against what they described as economic hardship.
The first day of the demonstration on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 witnessed chaos when protesters pelted stones at the Police and Police vehicles.
Subsequently, the Police retaliated by firing tear gas and water cannons as a means to control the violent crowd.
In a press release from the Ghana Police Service, it has disclosed that it will be arresting the organisers of the Arise Ghana demonstration.
