The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justine Koduah Frimpong has urged the security institutions to invite Asiedu Nketia over certain utterances he has made.
This comes on the back of a comment made by the newly elected national Chairman of the NDC, during his acceptance speech- where he noted that the NDC will gain a second independence for the country and will do that whether hook or crook and even if it will take the shedding of blood to do so, they are prepared.
According to Justine Koduah, these statements are very harsh and condemnable hence he’s calling on the security institutions, the National Peace Council, to be proactive and ensure that Asiedu Nketia is made to explain further.
Speaking in an interview on phone with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, he explained that ‘one thing Asiedu Nketia said in his acceptance speech which Ghanaians haven’t paid attention to, is when he said that the NDC will ensure Ghana gains 2nd Independence, and they are ready to do everything possible to ensure that happens”.
“We all need to come together and condemn it”, he advised.
Adding that “if someone who has been elected as national Chairman for a party like the NDC and you make such utterances, it’s so bad. For me, I think it’s not deliberate but if it is, then it’s just unfortunate. We sometimes make utterances which aren’t deliberate. He needs to come back and explain things better to Ghanaians”.
He disclosed that the legal team of the NPP is considering citing Asiedu Nketia for deceiving the court, following his leaked audio tape, where he admitted that they knew they had lost the elections yet went to court to challenge the election results by Electoral Commission.
He also made reference to similar statement made by the newly elected organizer of the NDC, whom he said has also mentioned that election 2024 will be war.
“The NDC cannot be violent in the 2024 elections – we the NPP as a political party will not allow that. They cannot change the peace and stability we’ve enjoyed since 1992 and that’s why we are pleading with the security institutions and National Peace council to take concrete measures to stop that”, he emphatically stated.
The only reason the NDC always causes mayhem during elections is because they are unable to collate their results. They shouldn’t worry at all. If they don’t mind, we are ready to provide them with our I.T. personnel to assist them collate, so that even before the Electoral Commission declares its results, they will know that they’ve already lost.
