Asiedu Nketia’s Leaked Audio: Jean Mensa Vindicated But EC Should Sue NDC- Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, is calling on the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to sue the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in court for falsely accusing them of rigging the 2020 elections.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi premised his call on the leaked audio of Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia where he has admitted that the NDC couldn’t collate the 2020 elections and as a result of that they (NDC) knew their petition to the Supreme Court was frivolous.

General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed that the party could not collate its electoral results in the 2020 elections.

According to him, the collation system crashed five minutes after it went live and the party started collating electoral results.

He made this known while speaking to delegates during one of his campaign tours.

“We appointed Griffith who was recommended by Chairman Ofosu Ampofo. He designed our collations software for the 2020 elections. The software crashed after collating five regions so that is why we did not get the results to challenge the Electoral Commission. We could only collate five regions,” he said.

He continued “we knew that Akufo-Addo didn’t win the first round of the elections considering the figures from each region, however, we did not have evidence to support our claim because the system crashed”.

But Chairman Wontumi expressed distain at the retrogressive tactics used by the NDC. Speaking to Wontumionline.com and Movementtvonline.com, Chairman Wontumi explicitly stated that the “NDC used lies to test the judiciary”.

He explained that the lies of the NDC on the EC caused financial loss to the state but was quick to add that the revelation has helped the image of the commission by vindicating its boss, Jean Adukwei Mensa.

“…. When it was time for me to enter the witness box, I asked them to bring the evidence. The evidence they brought to me, if I entered the witness box with that evidence to defend our case, I would have been disgraced.  To go into the witness box and defend our case with indefensible figures, me I knew I wouldn’t do it so I refused. We took the same documents to Lawyer Tsikata, and he went through the documents and said “if these are the evidence you are taking to court, then I was my hands off it”, Asiedu Nketia.
