Auditor General’s Report Discussed Even Without Parliamentary Approval – Awal Mohammed Blames Domelevo

A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awal Mohmmed, has blamed the former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo over the media’s discussion of the Auditor General’s financial report without parliamentary approval.

His comment comes after the Auditor General released the 2021 financial report on Tuesday 30th August 2022.

Speaking on the issue, Awal said that ”we are here because of Domelevo. For the first time we saw an Auditor General granting interviews over missing funds without the report being approved by the Public Accounts Committee, and that is what has given the media the leverage to come out with panic headlines. When he Domelevo was taken to court over contempt, he couldn’t even fine appearance”.

”A recent report on the e-levy stated an whooping amount of 12 billion was missing, but after a thorough investigations we realized that 10 billion out of the total amount were debtors and loan recoveries. The reportage on the 2021 financial report is wrong, not all the monies are missing some are as a result of irregularities”, he added.

He added that Ghanaians must be educated on financial report to prevent misconceptions.
