A former deputy Director of communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has stated that breaking the eight year cycle is a must for the party.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, a day after the the NPP’s National 2022 annual delegates conference, Mr. Mohammed indicated that “look at what we were able to do even under the global crisis of COVID-19 and the devastating effect of the Russia-Ukraine war- we were still able to sustain all our policies, and I’m happy we are going to the International Monitory Fund (IMF) with policy credibility. We must ensure we break the eight to protect the legacies of President Akufo-Addo”.
Adding that “we must develop strategies to break the eight, now that we have a new crop of leaders. It’s a must for us; but the elected executives cannot work alone-this particular crop of executives cannot do it without all of us. Their win is a win for the NPP and therefore peace and unity must prevail. All campaign leaders and heads should know that the campaign is over its time for governance”.
In furtherance he stated the party needs unity to break the eight.
”After every competition comes cooperation thus, we need everyone on board; but It will be very easy for us to win if all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE’s) play their role too”, he advised.
