The Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, has said that bribe can never be effective in Parliament.
Refuting allegations of Parliamentarians taking bribe to influence their decision on certain bills, he noted that he simply do not understand why such allegations could be levelled against the lawmakers.
“Who takes the bribe and who gives it out? Does the bribe change the position or stance of any Parliamentarian?” He asked.
He made this known in an exclusive interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio in Accra.
Stressing that assuming a Parliamentarian has been bribed, that doesn’t change or influence the entire stands of the 275 Members of Parliament.
“An individual in Parliament cannot change parliament’s debate. Hence, the reason I get confused when I hear people accuse us for taking bribe to influence certain decisions. I don’t think it’s necessary and even possible”, he added.
