Government’s spokesperson for social services, Alhaji Fofana has told Ghanaians to exercise restrains as they continue to pass comments on Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah’s ongoing investigation.
He opines that the former Sanitation minister wouldn’t have rushed to report the theft scandal to the police if she knew she didn’t acquire such sums of money genuinely but rather through corrupt practices.
“However, she did something that has really earned her my respect. The swiftness at which she tendered her resignation is commendable. The scandal broke on Friday and less than 24 hours in the early hours of Saturday she tendered her resignation. She also announced her readiness for any investigations which is very healthy for politics in Ghana’, he spoke on Movement TV. Â
He noted that this is the first time this is happening in Ghana since 1992…Usually when alleged corrupt cases like this emerges, Ghanaians make a lot of noise about it for a longer period of time before any action is taken.
“Has the sanitation ministry come to say that their money is missing…or has any audit report cited Cecilia Dapaah for any corrupt offense”, he asked.
“We are torn between the deep blue sea and the devil…as politicians when we have such huge sums in your home, it becomes a crime…when we save it at the bank too, EOCO and other intelligent unit will start questioning us to find out where we had it from”, he added.
