A political historian at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST) Dr. Adu Gyamfi, has said celebrating Founders’ Day is essential because leaders do not die rather their legacies live on.
He said this while speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on 4th August, 2022.
Speaking on the importance of celebrating Founders’ Day Dr. Gyamfi said, ‘’celebrating founders’ day is very significant because it helps the country men and women to understand the toil of our leaders in getting the country to its current state, it also helps them to understand the significance of serving their nation and build their leadership potential”.
”We must give honor to whom honor is due- yes our founders have passed on but we must not forget that leaders do not die rather their legacies live on. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah the first President of the Republic of Ghana, and the other great leaders who contributed towards Ghana’s independence must be celebrated for their enormous contribution”, he added.
Dr. Gyamfi advised political leaders to desist from politicking the Founders’ Day.
The Founders’ Day is celebrated on 4th August each year since its institution by President Akufo-Addo on his first term of office in 2018. The Founders’ Day replaced the Founder’s Day which was celebrated to mark the birthday of Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s that fell on September 21. Founders’ Day is celebrated to reminisce and appreciate the sacrifices our leaders made in the fight for Ghana’s independence.
