Choose Marketable & Winnable Candidates; Election 2024 Is Very Crucial- Chairman Wontumi Advises Delegates

Chairman Wontumi: A Visionary Entrepreneur, Job Creator And Media Mogul

The Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has advised NPP delegates going to the polls today to elect Parliamentary candidates in the various orphan constituencies to ensure that they vote for a marketable candidate.

He noted that the 2024 general election is very crucial as the party seeks to break-the-year jinx of democratic rule, and thus, the candidates to be elected today have an essential role to play in ensuring that its mantra doesn’t only remain a slogan, but it’s realized.

Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV’s live coverage of the primaries, he made reference to the impact of the hung Parliament Ghana has now, and how they’ve been a lot of setbacks and stumbling blocks in ensuring certain bills are passed. Hence, delegates must not repeat the mistake of 2020, by electing candidates that are obviously not the choice for the constituents.

“Nobody will interfere with the process…we are all going to allow the constituency executives, coordinators and polling station executives to determine and choose which candidate they want. When it happens so, they will definitely choose a candidate that the constituents want and will obviously vote for in the general election…”, he said.

The Ashanti Governor vehemently spoke against vote buying and emphasized on its dire effect on the party.

“We shouldn’t vote for candidates based on how they are able to grease our palms…However, we need to listen to the constituents because they are the deciders of the general election. We need candidates who for vigorously campaign for the President candidate we have, and also ensure that they are able to win the seat…Someone who can increase NPP’s votes int he constituency, much better than we had in 2016 and 2020…”, he added.

“Let’s all note that whatever decision we take today has an implication whether good and bad, on our electoral fortunes in the 2024 elections…”, he advised.
