Cite President Mahama For Contempt Over Denting The Image Of Lawyers- Lawyer Appiah Kubi

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North Constituency, Hon. Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, has called for the citing of contempt of the former President John Dramani Mahama over deteriorating the image of lawyers.

President Mahama made a statement at the opening of the 2nd Annual Lawyers Conference of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday August 28, 2022. Speaking he said that it will take a new Chief Justice to repair the broken image of the judiciary for the citizenry to have confidence in the judiciary system. Adding that the citizenry will laugh at anyone who decides to go to court.

Speaking on on the above, Hon. Appiah-Kubi said that ‘’the lawyers who sat to listen to the formal President must bow their heads in shame. As a former President, I don’t expect him to bastard the court and return to it. They have the power is cite him for contempt especially when there is an evidence to prove his actions- the law must be tested. Sometimes when I also think about the brouhaha it will bring, I give a second thought about charging him for contempt . He has to put an end to it because beyond the Supreme Court, there’s no place to go”.

He added that the former President cannot benefit from the state and fight against it.
