Black Bombers coach, Kwasi Ofori Asare, has described Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe’s comeback as an excellent job that needs to be hailed by Ghanaians.
Coach Asare said it took a strong mentality to come back stronger from two consecutive world championship defeats as displayed by Dogboe.
Dogboe (24-2, 15 KOs) lost his WBO super bantamweight title to Navarrete in 2018 during two explosive fights which were dominated by the hard-hitting Mexican.
However, Dogboe fought back by moving up to the featherweight division, earned four consecutive wins in the process under the tutelage of American trainers Barry Hunter and Patrice Harris.
Ahead of Dogboe’s upcoming WBO interim featherweight championship fight against Robeisy Ramirez, Coach Asare advised Dogboe to fight tactically to come out victorious.
“This is another opportunity for him to become a world champion again and I expect him to take this chance to enable him to reach higher heights.
“Dogboe is a special fighter and looking at his comeback tells you how excellent he has been since those two defeats nearly cost him his career,” Coach Asare told Graphic Sports.
Dogboe will make his maiden ring appearance this year against Ramirez after managing a single ring outing against Joet Gonzalez in April last year.
Ramirez (11-1, 7 KOs) is a two-time Olympic gold medallist from Cuba who is looking to secure himself a maiden world title shot by beating Dogboe.
The Cuban has been on a 12-fight winning streak since losing his debut pro fight against Adan Gonzalez in August 2019.
