Corruption Fight: Ensure Sedinam Tamakloe Serves Her Jail Term- Adomako Baafi To Mahama

NPP Deputy communications Director, Lawyer Adomako Baafi has challenged President Mahama to demonstrate his commitment to fighting corruption by ensuring that former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) CEO, Sedinam Tamakloe, serves her jail term.

Speaking on Wontumi TV’s Wontumi Morning show, Lawyer Adomako Baafi, questioned Mahama’s sincerity in tackling corruption. He cited the lack of clarity on specific actions Mahama plans to take to correct past wrongs, as well as the recent dropping of charges against Opuni, Seidu Adongo, Ato Forson, and others.

Baafi emphasized that a genuine commitment to fighting corruption would involve ensuring that individuals like Sedinam Tamakloe, who have been found guilty of wrongdoing, face the consequences of their actions. Tamakloe, who served as MASLOC CEO during Mahama’s administration, was sentenced to jail, for her involvement in a corruption scandal.

“The fact that Sedinam Tamakloe has been sentenced to jail and is yet to serve her term raises serious questions about Mahama’s commitment to fighting corruption. If Mahama is serious about tackling corruption, he must ensure that Tamakloe serves her jail term,” he stated.

He also expressed concerns about Mahama’s establishment of Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) before his inauguration, as well as the appointment of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as its head. Baafi highlighted Ablakwa’s personal connections and assets, including his sisters studying in the US and his ownership of properties in Airport Hills.

“The appointment of Ablakwa to head ORAL raises serious questions about Mahama’s judgment and commitment to transparency, stating that “how can someone with such clear conflicts of interest be trusted to lead an operation aimed at recovering looted state assets?”
