A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Oduro Nyarko, has advised the newly appointed Ministers for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection not to use the Ministry as funfair adding that it is a very crucial Ministry.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, Mr. Oduro Nyarko said the Ministry needs much attention.
He said, ‘’I understand Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo requested for leave and even requested for an extension. But it looks as if she used her leave to mock Ghanaians, forgetting is our taxes that are used to pay her and the other Ministers. I didn’t expect her to be throwing shades on social media. She was appointed by the President, but she ended up disappointing President Akufo-Addo and Ghanaians. The President has appointed new people to lead the Ministry and if parliament approves, they become the Ministers”.
”Hon Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the former deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Walewale and Hon Francisca Oteng Mensah, MP for Kwabre East will make a great team but I advise them to pay critical attention to the Ministry. They should not come and use the Ministry as funfair because we are on a mission of breaking the 8. We have brought the country very far to allow the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to destroy the country”, he added.
On Tuesday 2nd August, 2022, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in accordance with article 78 of the Constitution, has appointed the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the Member of Parliament for Walewale, as Minister designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Her appointment is subject to the approval of Parliament Pursuant to article 79 of the Constitution, President Akufo-Addo has also nominated Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, as Deputy Minister designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, subject to the approval of Parliament.
The President is hopeful that Parliament will expedite the approval of his nominees for this important Ministry, so they can assist in the effective delivery of his mandate for his second term in office.
