Spokesperson for Dr Afriyie Akoto, Prince Amuzu, has clearly stated that Dr Afriyie Akoto, is only being an advocate of the contractors who claim to be unpaid.
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning show, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Mr Amuzu addressed and clarified the statement Dr Afriyie made regarding some contractors being unpaid due to their political preferences.
According to Mr Amuzu, Dr Afriyie being a pioneer of the party, needed to emphasise on the issue in order to get the respective persons in charge to do the right thing. He claimed that his motive for being a voice for the contractors was not a negative one.
In response to the question of Dr Afriyie being fair for saying such thing about the same party he belongs to, he said that ” Dr Afriyie Akoto is a senior member of the New Patriotic Party, and I’ve talked about him here before which I said even during the time NPP was not formed and was just Danquah-Busua club, he was with some elders like JH Mensah that founded the party branch in UK. When we started NPP he was the first secretary for UK and Ireland branch of the New Patriotic Party, so it is not today he is joining the party.
He has even been a minister and MP twice as well as a ranking member so he knows all these arrangements, but if you are an elder and your wards come to you with complaints, you have to stand in for them, so he is just an advocate for them and I’m sure people in charge will now see to it and put things in place.”
