A Senior Political Scientist at the University of Education Winneba, Dr. Ebenezer Teye Amanor, has said that Dr. Amoako Baah’s comment on Dr. Bawumia indicates that his candidate’s campaign is not going as planned, hence, his quest to get him out of the race.
Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a Political Scientist has described Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as an alien of the party and can not succeed President Akufo-Addo therefore he must step aside because he is not a true New Patriotic Party (NPP) blood.
When Kwaku Dawuro asked Dr. Teye’s opinion on Dr. Amoako Baah’s comment on Movement In The Morning Political Show, he said ‘’first of all we need to ask what exactly the NPP tradition entails. If we are to take it from the angle of our forefathers then the party will be run by the very old people. This statement is unfortunate. We shouldn’t make politics all about who joined first or who has the ancestral lineage. Freddie Blay for instance was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) but he became the National Chairman of NPP”.
Advising the party to go for someone who is marketable, he further said, ”the most important thing is a flagbearer who will help the party break the 8 and a person who is competent enough to take the party to the next level- it is not about someone who has been in the party for a long time or a person with an ancestral lineage”.
“I don’t know the basis of Dr. Amoako’s comment; however it could be a personal agenda. Maybe his preferred candidate’s campaign is not going as planned so he is finding a means to rub the other candidate out of the race’’, he added.
He cautioned the party to present a candidate Ghanaians will gladly accept.
He added, ”At this point, they need to forgo their selfish interest for the general interest of the party. We can all attest to the current economic condition, the party needs to up its game to secure victory in the coming elections. Focus more on delivery from now to 2024 to make it easier for the candidate you will present and avoid the intra-party conflict, least, breaking the 8 will remains a dream’’.
