The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper Ben Ephson, has advised the ruling New Patriotic Party delegates to choose a flag bearer who is capable of winning power for the party in the 2024 general elections, and not choose a flagbearer for the sake of it.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the Morning Show on Movement TV and Wontumi Radio in Accra, Mr. Ben Ephson said “floating delegates will vote for a candidate who is likely to win an election to keep the party in power, and in their view is capable of steering the affairs of the country and not merely the person’s popularity. The support from members of the NDC for Alan Kyeremateng should ring a bell in the minds of the NPP delegates as to why they are rooting for him, for them to make inform decisions”.
Asked about his views on a front-page story of the Daily Dispatch which states that Dr. Mahamadu is the best flag bearer for the NPP in 2024, Mr. Ephson said it is the Editor of the Finder Newspaper Elvis Darko, who made such assessment based on research they conducted on the chances of those who have expressed interest in the NPP flagbearership.
According to him their findings put Dr. Bawumia in a bit of comfortable lead, followed by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, with Mr. Alan Kyeremateng placing third.
On accusation by Nana Ohene Ntow, one of the spokespersons of Hon. Alan Kyeremateng that he is biased towards Dr. Bawumia that is why all his research favour him, Mr. Ben Epson noted that he is not an NPP delegate, and for Nana Ohene Ntow to say that is an insult to the intelligent of the delegates.
“I will advise Nana Ohene Ntow to mind his choice of words, else he will be doing a great disservice to Alan Kyeremanten”, he added.
