Dr. Kwabena Kokofu has opined that the 2024 Flagbearer for NPP, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, must be commended for consistently promoting peaceful coexistence and the need to focus on candidate’s achievements and portfolios in the upcoming elections, rather than their religious affiliations.
He emphasized on the importance of preserving the peaceful coexistence of people from different religious backgrounds, just as our forefathers did.
He highlighted the need for interfaith dialogue and understanding, citing examples of religious leaders who have embraced this spirit of tolerance.
Dr. Kokofu noted that the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu, has visited churches, and many pastors have also visited the Imam’s residence.
He also mentioned Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit to the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis, showcasing his commitment to religious tolerance.
