Dr. Bawumia Poised To Transform Ghana’s Education With A Comprehensive Plan- Dr. Tandoh

Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh has disclosed a comprehensive education plan to be implemented under Dr. Bawumia’s administration as President.

In an exclusive interview on Movement TV and Wontumi Radio with Gordon Asare-Bediako, Dr. Kwabena Tandoh shed light on the key components of this initiative.

He noted that Dr. Bawumia’s plan includes the introduction of special incentives for teachers who specialize in early-grade education, spanning kindergarten to junior high school.

This move aims to attract and retain top teaching talent in these critical foundational years. Additionally, the Vice President has pledged to employ 1,000 trained teachers specifically tasked with catering to students with physical disabilities and learning disabilities.

He noted that to enhance teacher capacity, Dr. Bawumia’s plan encompasses language and training programs. With this, teachers will have the opportunity to learn various languages and receive specialized training in areas such as therapy. This will enable them to better support students with diverse needs.

“To ensure that teachers are equipped to identify students requiring extra support, Dr. Bawumia’s plan includes foundational training for in-service teachers. This training will empower teachers to recognize early warning signs and provide targeted interventions,” he said.

He furthered that the Vice President has also pledged to oversee teacher management and student feeding programs. This move aims to ensure that teachers are effectively supported, and students receive adequate nutrition to facilitate learning.

Dr. Tandoh highlighted the introduction of plain density learning, primarily in Northern Ghana, with plans for nationwide expansion. This initiative seeks to improve learning outcomes in underserved regions.

Dr. Tandoh credited the NPP with implementing the free Senior High School (SHS) policy eight years ago. He assured that Dr. Bawumia remains committed to protecting and improving this policy, addressing concerns around food provision in SHS institutions.
