The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema Central, Hon. Nii-Noi Hanson Nortey, has commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his digitalization agenda, which according to him, has helped with the arrest of the ‘Galamsey queen’, Aisha Huang.
He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show that “this is a proof that the system works- there’s no sycophant system, every system is a work in progress and it’s good we’ve identified the flaws; therefore, we must twist, turn and correct them so that it wouldn’t recur”.
He stressed that “Aisha Huang knows very well that there’s nothing you can do under the sun without the card in her country and that’s exactly why she needed it so badly- this is the more reason I always commend Dr. Bawumia for his digitalization agenda. This tells us that the biometric system is working and gives us hope that we are doing the right thing led by the Vice President. It’s like many Ghanaians do not understand what we are doing with this digitalization. But it’s the basis of everything including our development. That was the reason he said he will choose the Ghana card over 1000 interchanges and yet many Ghanaians didn’t understand him”.
He was however quick to add that “Ghana has been blessed with so much resources but hasn’t been able to manage it well. The demand for gold is on the rise because the dollar is not stable- even the inflation of US isn’t looking good and therefore everyone is looking for gold; but for us, God has blessed us to the extent that we have all these resources at our disposal, but we have not been able to manage it to our benefit”.
