A university lecturer, Dr. Osei Bonsu, has advised former President John Mahama to put a stop to his propaganda strategy and start researching on topics before commenting on them.
Dr. Osei Bonsu in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show listed the promise to scrap the payment of ex-gratia by the former President as one of the “propaganda” talk which shouldn’t be trusted by Ghanaians.
Mr. John Mahama has promised to scrap the payment of ex-gratia if given the nod to lead the nation but Dr. Osei Bonsu posits that “scrapping ex-gratia is impossible”.
He explained that ex-gratia “is your own money that the state puts aside for you” and added that it is not possible for the payment to be scrapped.
He continued that Mr. Mahama’s campaign messages are now based on just speaking without research.
“When people complain and he hears it, he quickly says he will scarp it”, he said.
Dr. Osei Bonsu also listed Mr. Mahama’s bastardization of the free Senior High School (SHS) programme started by President Akufo-Addo as one of the reasons Ghanaians should buy into the messages of the 2020 flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“He bastardized free SHS and said government had invested too much in it but in 2020, he said he will extend the policy to private SHS…. He claims if health insurance works with private hospital then free SHS should also cover private school but what he has forgotten is that the two are different when it comes to funding”, Dr. Osei Bonsu underscored.
Lastly, the Valley View university lecturer stated that when former President John Mahama travels outside Ghana to grace international events, he tells the world that COVID 19 has had a devastating effect on all economies but when he is in Ghana, he claims the economy has suffered a blip due to mismanagement.
