This comes after the Eastern Regional Minister had gone to the site to inspect the progress of the project.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Political Show on Wontumi FM/Movement TV, the Eastern regional Minister Honourable Seth Acheampong told Kwaku Dawuro that phase 1 of the hospital is a 280 bed capacity and the entire project when completed will be a 600 bed facility. The former MP for Mpraeso disclosed that the project was delayed due to some circumstances but gave an assurance that phase 1 of the 600 bed capacity will be completed and commissioned in December 2023.
“This is not an artistic impression, you can go and see things for yourself if you doubt. This is to the benefit of every Ghanaian and not just indigenes of Eastern region only. There are other health projects ongoing in the region and we are also building a polyclinic in Jumapo. No one lights a lamp and then hides it under the bed. A lamp is placed on a stand where its light can be seen by all. We wouldn’t want others to level allegations against us which we cannot respond to. We want to serve the country wholeheartedly for all and sundry to bear witness” he stated.
Hon. Acheampong stressed that the contract includes both the construction of the facility and the provision of all the needed equipment and facilities to run the hospital.
According to President Akufo-Addo during the sod cutting ceremony he said, “Phase one of this new hospital project will involve the construction of a two hundred and eighty-five (285) bed facility, out of the total capacity of six hundred (600) beds. Once fully completed, it will be fitted with the requisite teaching and learning facilities and will position the Eastern Region on the right side of the healthcare map of our country.”
