Municipal Chief Executive of GA West, Clement Wilkinson, has sparked intense debate with his recent statement suggesting a possible link between Dubik Mahama’s resignation as Managing Director of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the persistent issues surrounding prepaid meters and overbilling of Ghanaians.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio, with Kwaku Dawuro, Hon. Wilkinson mentioned that ECG Boss’ Exit could be as a result of prepaid Meter Woes and Overbilling.
Hon. Wilkinson’s statement raises important questions about the circumstances surrounding Mahama’s resignation and highlights the need for transparency and accountability within ECG.
The issues with prepaid meters, including inconsistent billing and meter functionality, have led to widespread frustration among customers.
Some meters have been known to trip off without warning, leaving customers in the dark. The process of resolving these issues can be cumbersome, often requiring multiple visits to ECG offices.
Additionally, the issue of overbilling has been a major concern, with some customers receiving inflated bills despite moderate energy consumption. This has led to accusations of estimated billing and meter tampering.
