Henry Nana Boakye, National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed the readiness of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, to engage in a presidential debate with John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Henry Nana Boakye, affectionately called Nana B, Dr. Bawumia is willing to participate in a debate even if it means having Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, as the moderator, and holding the debate at either the NDC’s headquarters or Mahama’s office.
Nana B made this bold statement in a Facebook post on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Nana B believes Bawumia’s willingness to debate demonstrates his confidence in discussing key issues and policies head-to-head with Mahama.
This response comes after the Mahama 2024 Campaign condemned the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) announcement of a presidential debate for the 2024 elections, citing unacceptable circumstances surrounding the invitation process.
The Mahama 2024 Campaign had claimed that the IEA was favouring the NPP.
