CAF has appointed former Asante Kotoko Administrative Manager Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as its new Professional Football Manager, GHANASoccernet reports. His appointment begins on July 1, 2024.
“This is a new role created by CAF and it’s an honour to be the first person to serve in this capacity. The Professional Football Manager entails a lot and I love the challenge ahead. I pray for the strength and wisdom to be able to execute my tasks,” Dasoberi told GHANASoccernet.
Dasoberi expressed gratitude to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his blessings and advice.
“It’s sad leaving Kotoko but there’s time for everything and hopefully one day I will return to serve again,” he added.
CAF selected Dasoberi after a rigorous process that saw over 100 applicants vying for the position.
His responsibilities include overseeing the CAF Club Licensing System, Stadium Licensing, and League Development. He will contribute to the Professional Football department’s programs and activities.
Additionally, Dasoberi will revise national club licensing regulations submitted by member associations.
He previously served as Asante Kotoko’s administrative manager for four years. Before that, he rose through the ranks at the Ghana Football Association, ultimately becoming deputy General Secretary.
