A communicator of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), Awal Mohammed, has alleged that a former Ashanti Regional security liaison officer was dismissed from post because he refused to release excavators belonging to Galamsey Kingpin, Aisha Huang, after he had confiscated them.
According to Awal, Aisha Huang has been engaged in the activities of illegal mining since 2013 but was only noticed in 2017, a few months after the NPP had assumed power and got her arrested.
He told Kwaku Dauwro on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/ Movement TV on September 6, 2022.
“Every individual in the Ashanti region from 2013 to 2015 had heard about Aisha Huang, but if not in May 2017,a few months after the NPP came into power and she was arrested, many Ghanaians never knew who she was. For me, I never knew she wasn’t even a Ghanaians”, he asserted.
He further alleged that “a former Ashanti regional security liaison officer, Enoch Nsiah, was sacked because he refused to release some excavators belonging to Aisha Huang which he had confiscated, despite the pressure and order to release it. There was a lot of hullabaloo because he was a very kind person to the NDC boys. This happened in 2016”.
This comes after Aisha Huang, the ‘galamsey kingpin’ who was deported in 2019 had returned in Ghana and has been re-arrested for engaging in illegal mining.
The prosecution before the court said in 2017, Aisha was arrested for a similar offence, but she managed to sneak out of the country averting prosecution; adding that early this year Aisha sneaked into Ghana having changed the details on her Chinese passport.
Awal Mohammed further urged that the re-arrest of Aisha Huang should end her up in jail.
