Former Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has admonished parents to desist from registering their minor children for voter ID card.
Speaking during a live interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, monitored by movementtvonline, Dr. Kokofu explained that falsifying one’s age can lead to discrepancies in official records, causing problems in the future. He urged parents to prioritize their children’s well-being and avoid making decisions that could jeopardize their future.
“One of the implications of tampering with your age is that in the future, when it’s time for you to go on retirement, because you tampered with your age, there you would know that you did a great mistake,” he emphasized. “For instance, you may be forced to retire early, when your time is actually not due, because of the age discrepancy,” he said.
. “Imagine the shock and disappointment of being forced to retire early, simply because of an error in your age records,” he said. “It’s a situation no one wants to find themselves in, and it’s crucial we take steps to avoid it.”
Chairman General, Kwame Sefa Kayi, nodded in agreement, acknowledging the importance of honesty and integrity.
Dr. Kokofu’s warning resonated with many, serving as a reminder to prioritize the accuracy and integrity of official records, and to avoid making decisions that could have long-lasting, detrimental effects.
