An uber rider who gave his name as Patrick has emphatically noted that he had his vehicle on credit and the only document he was required to present, is the Ghana card.
“I never paid a dime before the vehicle was handed over to me. In any case, I had no money and I had only gone on job haunting at the time, when a friend introduced me to the service. I decided to give it a shot by visiting their office for more details. Upon arrival, I was asked to show my Ghana card and driver’s license.”, Patrick told Kwaku Dawuro in an interview on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV.
He disclosed that fortunately for him, he had his Ghana card and driver’s license with him. Hence immediately, the process was initiated.
“They took some few details including my digital address and a guarantor. After going through only this process, an agreement paper which contained the terms and conditions was handed over to me to sign. The next day, a team member was designated visit my house, to confirm the address…”, he explained.
“After the person had left. On Thursday, I had a call that my application had been accepted and that I should come for the car…I was filled with so much joy and happiness…I had gone through so much distress in acquiring a commercial car based on a “work and pay” service. However, at last, kind courtesy the Ghana card, I have had my dream realized so simple even after driving for 24 years…”, Patrick expressed joy.
“I had the brand-new car handed over to me”, he stressed.
This story vindicates Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s hints that Ghanaians will soon buy cars on credit using Ghana Card, with Solar Taxi company agreeing to roll out the initiative.
According to him, the country is on pace to establish a credit system anchored by the Ghana Card to make life easy for the citizens.
Speaking at the 57th congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, the Vice President said discussions to that effect had already begun with Solar Taxi and other automobile companies in the country.
He indicated that all a purchaser may require for the credit transaction with the automobile companies will be the Ghana Card, adding that this has been made possible by the digitalisation of the economy.
“The Ghana Card will also become the anchor for a credit system in Ghana and it will take a couple of car manufacturers in Ghana, notably Solar Taxi, to give cars on credit to people,” he stressed.
“All they will need at the point of transaction will be your Ghana Card, and they will give you a car and then you pay over time,” he noted.
