A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Adutwumwaa Boadi, has noted that more internal auditors are needed at the district assemblies to prevent financial malfeasances.
Her comment comes on the back of the Auditor general’s report 2021.
“It’s as though we don’t have enough internal auditors, or the enough do not have enough resources to work. We need more internal auditors at the district assemblies, and they must be equipped with training to bring out their best. One thing we ought to know is that with the accounting profession, it’s subjected to changes although we are guided by rules, regulations and ethnics. That notwithstanding, we are not proactive. We always wait for things to happen before you’re called to go and audit”, she spoke on Movement in the morning on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
She stressed that going forward the country needs more qualified internal auditors who will be given the needed supported documents in order to audit every transaction made and ensure that there’s value for money for every item the country purchases.
“One other thing is that when the auditors are done with their report, we need professionals at the helm of affairs, who will ensure that whatever recommendations that are made in the management report, it’s implemented. So that when the 2022 auditor general’s report is out, we wouldn’t be experiencing these things”, she stressed.
