Free agent Andre Ayew in talks in Everton & Nottingham Forest over transfer

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is in talks with English Premier League sides Everton and Nottingham Forest with a view to joining one of them on a free transfer.

Ayew, 33, is a free agent after leaving Qatari side Al Sadd and is eligible to be registered for a team despite the European transfer window closing on Tuesday.

The former Swansea and West Ham forward is one of the most sought-after free agents in England as clubs battle to avoid relegation, this is because of his impressive record as a goalscorer.

Over two spells at Swansea, Ayew played 141 games and scored 47 goals, although two of his three and a half total seasons in south Wales were in the Championship. During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns, now-Forest boss Steve Cooper was Ayew’s head coach at Swansea.

The Ghana international spent a year and a half at West Ham in between his stints at Swansea, registering 12 goals in 50 appearances.

In his season and a half since leaving Swansea in the summer of 2021, Ayew scored 21 goals in 39 matches for Al Sadd before his contract was mutually terminated last month.

Ayew has scored 24 goals in 113 appearances for Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars.
