Ghana Will Be Back On Track- Deputy Trade Minister Assures

The deputy Minister for Trade, Hon Michael Okyere Baafi has assured Ghanaians of the revamp of the Ghanaian economy.

Ghana’s economy is currently facing difficulty with high inflation and the depreciation of the cedi. President Akufo-Addo on several occasions has urged Ghanaians to have faith in him as he is determined to bring the economy back to life before 2024.

Adding to the President’s assurance on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Hon Okyere Baafi who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juabeng South said that ‘’I can’t sit here and say everything is working perfectly, we are all witnesses of the current happenings but this situation is not limited to Ghana only, its happening everywhere including the UK and France. Government is doing everything possible to resolve the situation. Ghana will come back life-we are so sure about that, because government is doing everything possible to make that a possibility”.

”Another challenging issue is how people astronomically increase prices of their items once there is a little increment. That is not fair- they should have sympathy on the customers because they are also going through hard times. We should all be fair to each other. Oil was 49cedis on Thursday and just yesterday it was selling at 1000 cedis. Nothing shows we want the betterment of the country”, he added.

”We are not going to sit down and fold our arms, we will see to it that the agreement between government and GUTA is met. We have accepted the fact that GUTA has issues but to tell their members to adjust their prices according to the inflation rate becomes very difficult. If there’s a certain percentage of price regulation that’s works, but if traders are going to adjust the price how they want then it becomes a big issue’’, he stated.

He added that the country can’t keep going on like this, and said government will soon speak on price regulations.
