Ghana Winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku To Miss Rest Of The Season After Successful Surgery

Ghana forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is expected to be sidelined for the 2024/25 season after undergoing surgery for a knee injury sustained during a match against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Fatawu was withdrawn at halftime after experiencing discomfort in his knee.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed that the Leicester City player had “significant issues with his knee” and was not included in Ghana’s second game against Niger.

The 20-year-old took to Instagram to share news of his successful surgery, writing:

“All glory be to Almighty Allah. My surgery was successful, and I just want to tell you that I am okay and feeling good.

I want to thank everyone for your best wishes.”

Fatawu has registered 2 assists in 11 league appearances so far this season for Leicester City.

It remains uncertain whether Abdul Fatawu Issahaku will recover in time for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025, where Ghana is set to face Chad and Madagascar.
