Ghana Would Have Been A Country Beyond Aid If All Presidents Had Implemented Gov’t G4O Deal- Kusi Boafo

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Public Sector Reforms, has categorically noted that if all President since the inception of the 4th republic had implemented the Gold for Oil deal implemented by President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, Ghana would have been a country beyond aid.

In an exclusive interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio, he noted that President Akufo Addo’s government has added about 9,1 tonnes of Gold to the 8.7tonnes of Gold we had as a country and thus, we have 17.8 tonnes. This is the largest accumulation ever by any President of Ghana since the 4th republic.

“If all past presidents had this idea that President Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia have executed, Ghana would have had a lot of Gold by now. We would have had about 623 tonnes of Gold which is equivalent to $12 billion. We wouldn’t have been a poor country, and our currency wouldn’t have been depreciating”, he added.

Stressing that if Nana Addo is able to maintain this policy for the five years, one could imagine how much he would have added to Ghana’s coffers. Ghana would have had additional 125 tonnes of Gold which is equivalent to $4.5 billion if wits accumulated for five years.

“Dr. Bawumia will continue this policy if he becomes the next President…unless there’s a change of government, the policy will never be scrapped”, he noted.
