Greater Accra regional director of research for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ebenezer Doku has said Ghanaians never to forget about the pain and anguish they went through under the erstwhile Mahama’s administration.
According to him, despite the challenges Ghana is faced with, following the global crisis, the effect could not be compared to what Ghanaians went through under Mahama, even when there was no global crisis like COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war.
“Regardless of the current challenges, Ghanaians are still enjoying constant energy supply. We slept in total darkness for five solid years under John Dramani Mahama. However, today we have energy in excess to the extent that we are exporting to the neighbouring countries”, he said.
He debunked claims on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio that ‘dumsor’ was solved under Mahama’s era.
“Whoever will tell you that is a big liar”, he stressed. The take or pay agreement we signed with these power badges under NDC, where we were paying for energy supply that wasn’t needed. We didn’t need extra megawatt of power, but rather money to buy crude”, he told Kwaku Dawuro.
Adding that despite the challenges, government is still employing graduates- employing over two thousand personnel into the Police service, likewise the Ghana Armed force, Immigration, Fire service among others.
He asked if John Mahama could have given Ghanaians free electricity, water, and also paid government workers for a whole year while they were still at home due to COVID-19, like Akufo-Addo did.
