The Member of Parliament for Manso-Nkwanta, Hon George Obeng Takyi, has said that if Ghanaians will be patriotic and diligently pay their taxes, then the country’s economy will bounce back from the ravaging effect of the global crisis.
He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio that “two major factors in the budget that he agrees to are either increasing taxes to be able to meet our finances or sell the country’s assets to raise enough money to manage the economy. Ghana is where we are now due to the NDC’s resistance to the E – Levy which some Ghanaians followed them blindly, thinking they well fighting for them, not knowing they were only doing that just to starve the government of funds to run the economy”.
Stressing that “if Ghanaians wound unite and think first about Ghana, and be compliant of the laws of the country, the budget would propel us to our economic recovery in the shortest possible time”
He made this known after the reading of the 2023 ‘nkabom’ budget statement delivered by the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
