GOC Visits Family Of Late Judo President

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, last Friday led a delegation to console the family of the late Emmanuel Tetteh, former President of the Ghana Judo Federation, at Osu in Accra.

Accompanying him were the President of the Ghana Golf Association,Mr Mike Aggrey,the President of the Ghana Swimming Association,Mrs Delphina Quaye, the President of African Baseball, Mr Albert Frimpong and the President of the Ghana Cricket Association, Mr Emmanuel Owusu Ansah Asare.

The rest were Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Sammy Heywood Okine, Ebenezer Amuzu of the Communications Directorate of the GOC, Edem Avafianyo, accountant and Seth Avayi, administrative assistant.

Mr Nunoo Mensah paid glowing tribute to the deceased, describing him as a great personality who excelled in his duties as a sports administrator and a former officer of the Ghana Customs.

“He chalked up many successes and was even honoured by the king of Japan,” he stated.

He noted that the nation had lost an important gentleman and promised his outfit would support his funeral to give him a fitting burial.

“In fact, the late Tetteh was one of the elders in the GOC who I often consulted for advice and his demise is very painful.

“We have really lost one of our pillars and may his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.

Mr Quaye, on behalf of the GOC board, presented a quantity of mineral water to the family, while the GOC president led the hierarchy to sign the book of condolence.

Mr Victor Tetteh, a brother, who represented the family, thanked the GOC board for the visit and words of encouragement.

He said the family would meet later to decide the funeral arrangements and date.

Mr Emmanuel Tetteh passed away on January 6 this year.
