A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Marfo, has called for the ban of non-essential goods as most of these items are produced here in Ghana through the 1 district 1 factory agenda.
While speaking on the current price hike, Kwabena Marfo stated the depreciation of the cedi is as a  result of the high importation of consumable and non consumable products.
Speaking with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, he said that ‘’through the one district one factory agenda, Ghana has the capacity to produce non essential goods, but we are still importing which is affecting the dollar. We import almost everything we use including toilet rolls. Our taste for foreign goods is badly affecting the economy. We blame the National Democratic Congress (NDC), meanwhile we are also to be blamed. Government must put a ban on the importation of goods’’
Kwabena Marfo went on to say that he blames the Ministry of Finance for allowing speculations when it comes to the dollar rate.
”The Ministry of Finance should wake up, the dollar rate goes up everyday through speculations. These speculations will fill in the gap if they fail to rise. If we fail as a party, I will blame the NPP”, he added.
He stated that Ghanaians are aware the NPP is the only political party that can save the country.
