Government’s Payment Delay Affecting Food Supply to Schools- Kwaku Amedume

Spokesperson for the National Food Suppliers Association, Kwaku Amedume, has revealed that food suppliers are ready to provide foodstuffs to secondary schools across the country, but are awaiting a purchasing order from the government.

According to Amedume, there is an ample supply of food, including gari, beans, and corn, available for distribution.

“The association has suppliers available across various regions, who have been appointed by the government to distribute foodstuffs to schools. However, without a purchase order from the government, they cannot proceed with the supply”, he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.

Amedume noted that any food shortage in secondary schools would be due to the government’s failure to provide the necessary order. He also mentioned that outstanding debts from the previous government have been resolved.

It’s worth noting that the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has previously appealed to the government to allow schools to purchase their own food items, citing logistical challenges with suppliers.
