Guinness World Records Exposes Ghanaian Content Creator Over ‘Fake’ Eat-A-Thon

Guinness World Records (GWR) has debunked claims by Ghanaian content creator Clementina Nkrumah, popularly known as Afua Nash, who announced her attempt to set a world record for the longest eating marathon.
Afua Nash’s attempt was marketed as a four-day, seven-hour, and 20-minute non-stop eating marathon scheduled to start on Monday, November 11, 2024, live on the Savage Room show at Afropod Studios.
The promotional campaign featured various flyers circulated on social media, drawing considerable public interest.

However, GWR has taken to its official Twitter page to clarify that it no longer recognizes records for extended eating marathons.

While the organization once tracked such feats, it has since updated its guidelines.

According to GWR, consumption records are now based on the rate of consumption rather than duration, with attempts typically lasting only up to three minutes depending on the type of food.

Afua Nash has yet to publicly respond to GWR’s clarification, but the incident has sparked discussions about authenticity in record-setting attempts.
