Bono Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Boakye has said that ousted MP for Assin North James Gyakye Quayson only wanted to become a Member of Parliament (MP) for a retirement package.
According to him, the former MP doesn’t even have a single project to his credit even after serving for two years.
He said that for every community he visited whiles in Assin North, the chiefs never mentioned any project which was constructed by the former Member of Parliament- the first community he entered is a stronghold of the NDC, but they are underdeveloped, lack many social amenities.
“After receiving over 3 billion cedis as common fund for two years, there’s not even a single project he has executed for electorates- the only thing he’s been able to do from the check at the assembly is buy them rice, sugar and oil. Meanwhile, there’s a community that always vote the NDC and needed only 15, 000 Ghana cedis to complete a project they had started, and they’ve never received it”, he said on Movement TV whiles speaking to Oheneba Asiedu.
He expressed surprise over how everyone was just heaping praises on Charles Opoku for the numerous intervenes and projects he’s executed to the benefit of the electorate, even at age 40- to the extent that it is his house that accommodates the Assin North district Assembly.
Adding that after living in abroad for 45 years, he hasn’t been able to buy even a corn mill for the constituents.
Stressing that this by-election is a practical based one and he believes from now till Tuesday, the good people of Assin North will honour Charles Opoku for the good work done for the people of Assin.
“After serving the Whiteman with all his strength, he’s back in Ghana to receive his retirement package”, he jabbed Gyakye Quayson. What matters is the development of Assin North. Gone were the day when from Praso to Assin Fosu roads were only filled with potholes but today, look at the first-class roads the NPP has constructed”, he stated.
