Hearts of Oak legend Mohammed Polo has urged the club to part ways with head coach Aboubakar Ouattara, stating that he is not suited to lead the team.
Polo’s comments come in light of the Phobians’ disappointing start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, having secured only two wins, along with three draws and three losses.
Their most recent setback was a 1-0 defeat at home to Bibiani GoldStars during Matchday 8 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
In an interview with Citi Sports, Polo, who previously managed the club, expressed his belief that Ouattara lacks the qualities needed for success.
“I think there is a problem in the technical direction, and it’s all about the talent we have here in the country,” he said. “The coaches need to add some value, which is currently missing.”
Polo reflected on last season when Hearts of Oak barely avoided relegation, emphasizing that such performance falls short of the club’s standards. “Last season, Accra Hearts of Oak nearly went down to relegation.
That’s not the club’s standard. Ouattara is not the right man to lead the club, and I agree with fans calling for his dismissal,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will face Medeama SC in their upcoming Matchday 9 clash at TNA Park this weekend.
