Ho-based Home Stars Football Club have been dissolved following their qualification to the Division One League.
The CEO of Home Group of Companies and bankroller of Home Stars FC, Joe Ayivor, asked both the technical team and the playing body to step down at a meeting on Monday.
“The unfortunate news is that, after today’s meeting, the management, technical team, and playing body have been dissolved”, he announced.
This was when the team presented the Adonai Estate Volta Division Two League trophy to him.
Mr. Ayivor said the direction forms part of a strategy aimed at qualifying the team for the Premier League in two years.
He said playing in Division One would require a fortification of the Club hence players and technical team members would have to re-justify their inclusion in the team.
“Because we are moving from a lower division to a higher division, you are going to justify that you are up to the standard we are looking for. The fact is, you should be of a Premier [League] standard”, he explained.
Mr. Ayivor is, however, convinced the rejuvenated team would deliver the objective of qualifying to the Premier League after two seasons in the Division One League.
“I have asked about talents spotted during the Middle League, we will invite them and make a formidable team. When we have matches in Ho on Wednesdays and Sundays, Ho will be lively like Kumasi and Accra”, he concluded.
The Ho Municipal Chief Executive and Board Chairman of Home Stars FC, Divine Bosson appreciated the entire team for the yeoman’s job in the 2022/2023 season.
He lauded the support base of the team for believing in the dream even in times of difficulty when the performance of the team took a nosedive.
“I am grateful to everyone for playing roles to deliver #OperationDivisionOne”, he said.
Coach Christian Chibueze led the team in three seasons and played two finals, losing the 2020/2021 season to Akatsi All Stars FC.
He expressed gratitude to the Board Chairman and bankroller for posing confidence in him to qualify the team to Division One “and indeed, with God’s guidance, we delivered. I am so much grateful to them”.
The General Captain of Home Stars FC, Dickson Kaley, acknowledged the Board, Management and Technical Team for their support, and guidance throughout the season.
He expressed optimism the team would continue to make great strides in its endeavours through “determination and hard work.”
Home Stars FC defeated Inter Allies FC 4:2 in a penalty shootout to qualify for the Division One League, after playing 90 minutes of regulation time, with the game ending 1:1.
The team suffered a defeat and two draws in 21 fixtures in the 2022/23 season, winning 19 matches.
