Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has argued that Former President John Dramani Mahama’s latest promise to offer free entry to tertiary education is nothing more than a strategic move to win votes, given his chequered past.
According to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, Mahama’s promise is a joke.
“This is the same person who said if he had $2 million, he wouldn’t invest in free SHS. Now, he’s promising free entry to university. It’s a desperate attempt to win votes.”
Chairman Wontumi further stated, “If not for Nana Addo’s free SHS, many students wouldn’t even be in university. How does Mahama expect them to get to university without the foundation laid by free SHS? It’s hypocritical and a clear sign of political opportunism.”
He added, “Mahama’s promise lacks substance and clarity. We need concrete details, not just empty promises.”
Ghanaians are urged to be cautious and not fall for Mahama’s sweet talk. “We must remember the lessons of the past,” Chairman Wontumi emphasized.
He said that Mahama’s actions, not words, should guide our decisions.
“We can’t afford to be fooled again”, he stressed.
