Lawyer Justice Abdulai has revealed that he is yet to speak directly to former President John Mahama after his petition was thrashed by the Supreme Court.
In a one-on-one interview on Wontumi TV, the lawyer stated that he has received several calls after the Supreme Court ruled on his case but hasn’t established any form of contact with the 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“A lot of people have sent me message and called me to go for review- some call to give me moral support. John Mahama hasn’t called me and if someone closer to him has called, none of them have said Mahama sent them on his behalf”, he said.
Lawyer Justice Abdulai, had gone to court challenging the decision of First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu, to be counted as part of the quorum to pass the 2022 budget.
But in a unanimous decision given by Justices Jones Dotse, Nene Amegather, Prof Ashie Kotey, Mariama Owusu, Lovelace Johnson, Clemence Honyenuga and Yonny Kulendi, the writ was thrown out.
Mr Abdulai is of the firm view that the ruling on the interpretation of Articles 102 and 104 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana by the highest court of the country was not definite on the Deputy Speakers casting vote when the need arose on the floor of the House.
