Children of famous people do not have it all rosy sometimes and Ghanaian singer, Efya who is the daughter of a famous personality wasn’t spared either when she was growing up.
Born Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, the Neo singer is the daughter of celebrated Ghanaian filmmaker and the host of “Greetings from Abroad”, Nana Adwoa Awindor which dominated the airwaves at the turn of the 21st century.
Reflecting on her childhood, the multiple VGMA award winner disclosed that it was stressful and put a lot of pressure on her.
According to the ‘Gingam Too Much’ singer, she specifically got bullied a lot in Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School where she had her secondary education because of her famous mother
“It was very stressful. There was a lot of pressure. I got beaten up because of my mom when I got to secondary school,” Efya revealed.
Speaking to Doreen Avio on Joy Prime, the eclectic songbird said pursuing music was not in her plans as she had always wanted to follow in the footsteps of her film director dad.
She however made a detour after she emerged as the first runner-up in the musical reality show, Stars of the Future and has pursued music commercially for over 15 years.
Efya graduated from the University of Ghana with a degree in Music and Theatre.
