The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has revealed he played a vital role in ensuring George Opare Addo retains his position as National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress.
Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, claims retaining George Opare Addo doesn’t guarantee the NDC victory in 2024 but rather, makes it easier for him (Chairman Wontumi) to have a huge stake in the NDC.
“This is one in the bag for me, electing Opare Addo doesn’t mean that the NDC wants to win the 2024 elections, it means that I have one person who would obey my commandments”, Chairman Wontumi said in an interview with Wontumionline.com.
Last Saturday, George Opare Addo, retained his position as National Youth Organiser of the NDC after a keenly contested election in Cape Coast.
He beat his sole contender, Yaw Brogya Genfi by obtaining 533 votes.
Brogya Genfi, who was the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser, failed to annex the portfolio, after amassing a total of 508 votes of the valid votes cast.
The NDC will hold the next phase of its national delegates conference next week Saturday, to elect a new national chairman, secretary and persons to occupy other portfolios.
Chairman Wontumi has vowed to make a decision on that election too. “I am going to give the NDC a National Chairman who would obey my instructions and not someone who will be working for the party”, he said.
