Emotions kept pouring out as Mr. Stephen Atugiba spoke of the harsh treatment he received from former President John Dramani Mahama despite going to prison for supporting him.
Mr. Atugiba who used to be an ardent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opened up on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Movementtvonline.com that after being jailed for supporting Mr. Mahama, never did the former President offer him a cup of water or visit him when he was rotting in cells.
Addressing the issue on the maiden edition of the ‘Di Bawumia Ho Adanse3’ show , Mr. Atubiga dared the public to “ask Mahama whether he visited when I went to prison for him. He didn’t even give me a cup of water. He never said thank you to me. None of his minister gave me a cup of water. I followed him till he was President, lost the seat and lost it again for the second time.”
Stephen Atubiga, who was member of the NDC’s Communications team was sentenced to three days’ imprisonment for criminal contempt in 2013.
He served his jail term, imposed on him by the Supreme Court for comments the court said were contemptuous.
Sadly, Mr. Atugiba stated that after all that he suffered, former President Mahama became rich and “didn’t even remember me. I wasn’t even given a sweeping contract.”
