Founder of Liberal Party of Ghana, Pervical Kofi Akpaloo, has disclosed that if he voted into power as the next President of Ghana, he would ensure that within the first six months in office, Ghana will stop importing rice.
He explained that he will declare a state of emergency and train hundred rice farmers who will be given the mandate to grow enough rice for the country.
“It only takes about 3 months for rice to grow after planting…it is very feasible, and we I have it so dear to my heart… and once I’m voted into power, I will implement it…. once it’s achievable why don’t we do it…. we can grow that throughout the year…we only have to select hundred rice farmers and give them the needed resources they need with strict guidance and ensure that they grow it in abundance…”, he spoke in an exclusive interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV.
He added that after the planting of rice, the government will again build a factory which will add perfume to the rice so Ghanaians could patronize them.
“When it happens so, we wouldn’t have to import rice, fowl, corn, onion, sugar among others…do you know how much we spend on these things annually…If we are able to grow them here, we wouldn’t have to fetch $1Billion…we will save that money for another purpose and also create jobs for our youth…we need to be deliberate about these things”, he said.
